Godrej & Boyce, the holding company of Godrej Group recently commemorated the Birth Centenary of Mr. Naval Godrej. Hungama Digital Services (HDS) is delighted to be associated with Godrej to extend the centenary celebrations onto digital platforms.
Naval Pirojsha Godrej (1916-1990), fondly known as Naoroji, was born on 3rd December 1916. The youngest son of Pirojsha Burjorji Godrej, Naval was instrumental in building Godrej as we know it – a company and a brand that has earned the trust and patronage of millions of Indians across generations.
Based on the brief, HDS charted out a list of digital activities to maximize the digital
reach of an event that was otherwise restricted to one location. Some of the notable activities conducted include –
– Live streaming of the internal commemorative function on the 3rd of December to all Godrej employees, along with live Twitter and Facebook coverage of the same.
– Launch of http://www.naval100.com/ – an effort to chronicle Naval’s life through available archival material and ongoing interviews with his contemporaries.
– Launch of a Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/navalgodrej ) and a Twitter handle (@NavalGodrej) that led the social media effort of the Centenary Celebrations (and continues to do so) with interesting information, trivia, videos and interviews.
– Wikipedia page creation that shares complete details of Naval’s formative years as well as his significant contributions (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naval_Godrej).
Speaking about the event, Carlton D’Silva, CEO and CCO, HDS said, “The digital platform which was earlier seen as a second-line medium is now at par with mainline, if not a step ahead. More and more clients are opting to webcast and share live event updates – far exceeding traditional media’s reach. It is an honour and a privilege to be associated with an event that marks a historic milestone for a company that is so omnipresent and so closely intertwined with the social fabric of India. It also proved to be an enlightening experience for the team, for in the process we went beyond the brief and imbibed the learnings from Mr. Naval Godrej’s life – a simple, unassuming man whose innovative ideas ‘met the future’.”
Encouraged by the response of his colleagues from across the company, Mr. Indrapal Singh (Management Advisor, Godrej) said, “One of the key ideas we wanted to execute for this event was the live screening across all our regional offices pan India. Thanks to Hungama Digital Services for suggesting the live webcast option as well as for helping us with the flawless transmission of the event in HD. Going by our learning from Mr. Naval Godrej’s life – of evolving constantly and staying abreast of the changing times, we brought in new-age digital formats to make our ideas meet the future.”
